XChange Mission Statement
In the 2024-2025 calendar years, XChange will host its second and third WRLDArts Festivals internationally in North America and Oceania. We will expand our charitable initiatives by launching XChange Sponsoring, an educational sponsoring project, starting in Yunnan, China.
The XChange Youth Foundation for Cultural Exchange was founded in 2023 by high school students Sophia Peng and Sophia Zhang after extensive planning and development. Both deeply passionate about the arts, the co-founders recognized the transformative power of cultural expression. They envisioned a platform where the beauty of diverse cultures could be celebrated and shared among youth worldwide.
While the arts hold immense value, they realized that many young people, particularly those from under-resourced communities, face barriers that prevent them from accessing basic education, let alone artistic enrichment. In fact, according to the United Nations, low and lower-middle income countries face a $100 billion annual financing gap to reach education targets; and, by 2030, 84 million youth will be out of school and 300 million students lacking basic numeracy and/or literacy skills. With this understanding, the Sophias founded XChange to bridge that gap.
XChange was created not only to host large-scale cultural exchange events but also to provide resources that help youth interested in pursuing education and the arts to overcome financial and other obstacles. XChange empowers young artists and enables them to share their cultural heritage with the world.
